LTMS-PIP Taskforce and Working Group Engagements

The Lao PDR–Thailand–Malaysia–Singapore Power Integration Project (LTMS-PIP) represents a multilateral cross-border electricity trade initiative involving up to 100MW of power flow from Lao PDR to Singapore through the interconnected grids of Thailand and Malaysia. The project builds upon the existing Lao PDR–Thailand–Malaysia (LTM) interconnection framework and is scheduled to commence operations in 2022 for an initial two-year period.

To operationalise the initiative, three LTMS-PIP taskforces comprising representatives from the four participating countries were established to deliberate on key implementation dimensions, including technical integration, commercial arrangements, and legal and regulatory frameworks. These taskforces operate under the guidance of the LTMS Working Group, which provides strategic direction for the project’s execution.

Through its participation in the taskforce and working group engagements, Single Buyer contributes market and system perspectives relating to cross-border scheduling, operational parameters and contractual structures. Such regional collaboration strengthens institutional readiness for multilateral power trade and advances ASEAN’s broader vision of an interconnected electricity market under the ASEAN Power Grid initiative.
