On 5 to 6 July 2023, 10 delegates from Single Buyer headed by Head Single Buyer, Ir. Zainudin Md Yusof, attended technical meetings with the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and Energy Market Company (EMC) which took place in their respective offices in Singapore. The primary objectives of these meetings were multifaceted. Firstly, the delegation sought to gain an in-depth understanding of the governance and regulatory framework underpinning the Singapore National Electricity Market (NEMS). Secondly, it aimed to acquire comprehensive insights into the operation of the Singapore Wholesale Electricity Market (SWEM), delving into the intricate mechanics of its function while drawing valuable lessons from EMC's expertise in this domain. Furthermore, the meeting also served the Single Buyer team a closer look at the roles and functions of market operator in a dynamic electricity market landscape. In addition, these interactions also fostered the critical objective of strengthening networking ties between the Single Buyer, EMA, and EMC. These meetings not only enriched the delegation's knowledge base but also contributed to the broader regional cooperation and synergy within the energy sector.
