On 26 January 2024, in conjunction with the International Day of Clean Energy, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) announced the launch of the Low Carbon Energy Generation Programme.
The programme is specifically designed to target non-solar renewable energy resources, which include wind, small hydro, biogas, biomass, and hydrogen, as part of comprehensive efforts to diversify the renewable energy mix and promote sustainable energy development in the country. A total quota of 400 MW has been allocated for this programme, with participation determined on a "first come, first served" basis. As of 15 January 2025, the total quota applied for under this programme has reached 3.22 MW. Applications for the programme is open from 5 February 2024.
