A visit to Maju Intan Biomass Power Plant by a group of SB staff from various units has allowed them to gain valuable insights into the generation of electricity from Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB), a waste effluent palm oil. Located in the vicinity of over 20 palm oil mill processors in Teluk Intan, the biomass power plant is capable of generating 12.5 MW of electricity under a 16-year agreement with TNB. The plant, which is not only producing clean energy and reducing methane and carbon output is also an integrated waste management plant that could turn oil palm EFB into usable products.
